Feast of the Ascension

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension.

On this day, Jesus returned home to the Father.  He left his apostles with a promise that an Advocate will come.  The Advocate will help them in their time of needs.  The Advocate will be with them in their journey.

Here is the Ascension Mass link for today.  Mass is celebrated by Pa Tipene.

Let us not lose faith in our world today.  When it seems like there is no other way, there is always prayer.  Let us turn to our Advocate, our Helper, the Holy Spirit and ask for his help today.

"God understands us better than we understand ourselves or each other. "

May is the month of Mary

Holy Mary: May the Month of Virgin Mary.

May is the special month we dedicate to Mother Mary.  She is Jesus' mother and our heavenly mother too.

Before Jesus died on the cross, he entrusted Mary to the Apostle John, to be his mother.  In this way, Jesus has allowed us to call Mary our Mother too.

In our Catholic faith, we acknowledge that this is so.  Let us pray with Mary to her Son Jesus, to have mercy on our world and to help us follow God more closely in our actions and in our words today.

Remember the devotional prayers we use when praying with Mary.  The Rosary is one of the best prayers we can pray during this month of May, the special month dedicated to Mother Mary.

"Trust in God. "

The Holy Spirit
"The Lord, the Giver of Life"

"The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Holy Trinity who, ‘with the Father and Son is worshipped and glorified’. God, the Holy Spirit gives life to the Church and is at work in the minds and hearts of people everywhere, calling them to lead good lives. In ways known only to God, the Spirit subtly calls people to serve others and worship God and his Christ in the Church. It is sometimes said that the Holy Spirit is ‘the forgotten person’ of the Blessed Trinity. In human terms it is perhaps easy to understand why many people may find it easier to conceive of and relate to God in familial terms such as Father or Son, rather than as the more abstract Spirit."

The Holy Spirit Strand is our current learning focus for the term.  Teachers will set the learning from their respective bubbles for their own students.

The learning may take place in a different environment now but it is a fantastic time for the children to learn about the Holy Spirit from their parents at home, as well as their teachers (online).

The children will learn about the Holy Spirit at their own curriculum levels and how important he is in their daily lives in this day and age.

In our Catholic faith, we remember that the Holy Spirit is our helper, our guide, our advocate.  Let us remember to turn to him in prayer when we feel the need for his guidance in our daily lives.

Here is a prayer to the Holy Spirit, from the Catholic Online Website.

"God is so good - we ought to cling to Him with love and hope"
